About Dr. Cheng
Dr. Irene Cheng is a dynamic, compassionate dentist who provides excellent comprehensive, patient-centered care. She is full of energy and is forward-thinking about treatment plans, inspiring her patients to make gradual change that will have a positive, lasting impact on their oral hygiene.
Dr. Cheng was born and raised in San Diego and moved to the Bay Area to receive her bachelor's degree at the University of California, Berkeley. She then attended one of the top dental schools in the country at University of California, San Francisco, where she earned scholarships for leadership and community service. After graduating, Dr. Cheng did a general practice residency at the Veterans Affairs in San Diego. There she practiced comprehensive care working with medical and dental teams on complex procedures and patients.
Dr. Cheng's passion for dentistry is shown through her volunteer work with the Community Dental Clinic at UCSF. The organization provides care to patients who otherwise would have no access to care, and it allows Dr. Cheng to regularly volunteer throughout the year to help the San Francisco community.
At Dr. Young’s bustling, high-tech office in Union Square, Dr. Cheng practices comprehensive dentistry, offering regular exams and cleanings, preventative care, fillings, crowns, bridges, root canals, and Invisalign. She is fluent in Mandarin and regularly sees Chinese patients.
It’s important to me to see each patient as a whole. There’s more to life than dental appointments. So even though I see patients only twice a year, it’s important to me to educate them and inspire change.
In her free time, she enjoys staying active by rock climbing, swimming, and running. She recently completed the Wildflower Triathlon and participated in a relay swim across Lake Tahoe.
